New in Davinci v5.0

Agent-generated geometry

Describe the part. Get editable parametric CAD.

Davinci agents translate engineering intent into native CAD Language geometry, compile the model, inspect the result, and refine it. The outcome is structured CAD with features and parameters—not a rendered approximation.

Model-connected parameters

Make CAD parameters part of the engineering model.

Features, parameters, verification, and source stay together in one CAD workspace. Link dimensions to Davinci attributes, explore bounded values in the viewport, and save the selected design back into the model.

Constraint-based assemblies

Assemble parts by how they relate and move.

Compose reusable parts with grounded instances, mates, and rigid, revolute, prismatic, or ball joints. Davinci solves each pose from those relationships and keeps motion, collisions, and assembly structure visible.

STEP interoperability

Bring existing geometry into the same project.

Inspect a STEP file before import, then fuse its solids, select one part, or preserve product structure as an assembly. Imported B-rep geometry can be measured, mated, verified, reused, and exported beside native Davinci CAD.

Engineering beyond the viewport

Use the model to verify, communicate, and improve the design.

Move from shape to evidence, deliverables, physical properties, and reviewable design changes.

Agent-generated geometry

Turn engineering intent into a model you can continue editing.

Davinci agents author parts in native CAD Language. The CreateGeometry and UpdateGeometry tools build structured sketches, features, parameters, materials, and verification contracts rather than generating an image or opaque mesh.

Compilation and inspection close the loop. The agent can use CompileGeometry, CaptureGeometryView, and kernel-backed inspection tools to identify errors, review multiple directions, and refine the source. CAD object creation is available in deployments where mechanical design is enabled.

Model-connected parameters

Keep dimensions connected to engineering decisions.

The CAD workspace keeps FEATURES, PARAMETERS, VERIFY, and CODE beside the viewport. Engineers can use ribbon tools for sketches, extrudes, revolves, fillets, chamfers, holes, and mates while retaining a readable feature history.

Bounded parameters can link to Davinci attribute objects. Preview values through sliders, save the selected values back to those attributes, and reference compiled mass, volume, bounding-box, center-of-mass, and parameter values elsewhere in the project.

Constraint-based assemblies

Define assembly intent instead of hand-placing every part.

Assembly objects compose previously authored or imported parts. Ground one instance, then use exported attachment frames with rigid, revolute, prismatic, ball, planar, and concentric relationships to define how components fit and move.

Davinci’s geometric constraint solver calculates the pose. Joint sliders, exploded views, collision audits, and motion studies all work from the solved assembly graph, keeping the displayed mechanism consistent with its authored relationships.

STEP interoperability

Preserve useful geometry without pretending it has native history.

STEP preflight identifies units, solids, and available product structure before creating project objects. Choose to fuse solids into one part, import a selected solid, or decompose the file into a Davinci assembly with reusable child geometry.

The imported B-rep remains useful throughout the project. OCCT can recognize analytic faces, holes, fillets, and chamfers; measure the geometry; calculate anchors for mating; and export it again. Davinci does not claim that an arbitrary STEP file regains the original authoring system’s parametric feature tree.

Open CASCADE geometry kernel

Compile model-first CAD into exact boundary representation.

Davinci’s production CAD pipeline uses Open CASCADE Technology 8.0. CAD Language is parsed and validated into a kernel command model, then the OCCT service executes primitives, sweeps, booleans, dress-up features, threads, imports, and tessellation.

The same kernel supports downstream engineering evidence. Exact distance and volume measurements, B-rep feature recognition, assembly collision audits, and STEP import and export all operate on the compiled geometry rather than a visual approximation.

Design by contract

Make design intent executable.

Authored verify* contracts cover dimensions, counts, interference, clearance, mobility, and motion. They run on demand from the VERIFY panel or agent tools and preserve the evidence behind a pass or failure.

OptimizeGeometry searches bounded CAD parameters, evaluates contracts and physical objectives for each candidate, and ranks feasible designs first. It changes authored defaults only when explicitly requested.

Engineering deliverables

Carry compiled geometry into practical outputs.

Generate deterministic orthographic sheets from the saved CAD pose. Drawing output supports PDF, SVG, PNG, and DXF with options for hidden lines, sections, dimensions, center marks, notes, and tolerance stackups.

Assemblies can also produce build instructions from the solved graph. Installation steps identify the relationship that places each part, preserve fastened or bonded intent, and expose failed contracts before presenting the design as buildable.

Physical definition

Connect shape to the properties engineering depends on.

Material objects combine appearance with density and supported mechanical and thermal properties. Assigning a material to native geometry allows the compiled result to expose volume, mass, center of mass, and related physical measures as connected model data.

Readable design history

Review mechanical design changes in a readable code diff.

CAD Language keeps mechanical design changes legible in source control. Code diffs expose the exact parameters, dimensions, features, and relationships edited between revisions, so reviewers can understand the authored change without inferring it from two rendered images.
